I am excited to welcome Rick Jones to our organization as a network engineer. Rick has such passion for this industry and it excites me to share with you what he has to say:

“What a great time to be involved in the technology field!

With Smart Phones, Servers, Virtualization technologies, it is absolutely amazing what can be achieved through technology. The speed at which we are moving towards tomorrow’s technology keeps everyone, especially myself, fighting to stay ahead of the curve. Because of my passion for customer service I am very fortunate to be partnering with BSSI to provide the central Ohio region with top-notch support services. In my seven years of working in the computer industry, I have seen my share of ‘typical support services’ and I must say BSSI has raised the bar in customer services and technical expertise. Diana’s commitment to providing the absolute best customer service and fostering an environment of growth for the BSSI team is inspiring.

I did not get involved in this field by chance. My passion for the ‘techy’ aspects of technology has led me to a career that I am excited about. In my quest to be the best technician that I can be, I have obtained my CCNA, MCITP, A+ and Security+ certifications. I am also in the process of finishing my Bachelors of Science in Information Technology.

I like to spend my personal time camping, helping with Church activities and hanging out with my wife and 6 month old son.

I look forward to working with everyone and providing you with the best support services around.”

BSSI’s CEO is Diana Spurgus. The focus of BSSI consists of central Ohio organizations (for-profit, not-for-profit and medical) that rely heavily on their technology on a daily basis. The company’s primary goal is to provide exceptional services to these organizations so that they in-turn can operate and perform more effectively without the worries associated with continued system down time, and by improving the client’s workflow through current computer environment assessments and consultation. BSSI has recently expanded much more heavily and aggressively into their current central Ohio focus markets which include Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Muskingum and Ross counties.

We are in the process of documenting what we think we do well. Can you all weigh in on this and comment on whether these items ring true AND/OR if there are any other items we should note?

—————————————————————————————–

1.)	100% money back guarantee on our services and products. We are so certain that you’ll be thrilled with our service that we’re willing to put our money where our mouth is and back it up with a written money-back guarantee. This removes the risk from you getting burned or disappointed and places it on us. For example:

Example 1: A software company told one of our clients they needed a specific model scanner, so they ordered it through us. When we installed the scanner it would not work with the software and the software company simply shrugged their shoulders, offered no apology and told them they had to purchase a DIFFERENT model. The scanner could not be returned or exchanged; but we felt that the client should not have to bear the cost of the software vendor’s mistake. Therefore, we kept the original scanner and ordered the second model on our dime which ran fine with their software.

Example 2: We ordered a new pc from Dell for a client. After installation, we found that just about every part in that unit needed to be replaced due to a number of issues. It was obviously a lemon, but Dell wouldn’t replace it. We stood behind the unit and pulled it from the client site and paid Dell for a new computer.

2.)	We fix things fast and RIGHT the first time so you aren’t dealing with a steady stream of problems. Most IT service firms run their business (and your network) like the wild west. They have no training, systems or procedures in place which causes all kinds of inconsistencies in service which show up as a never-ending stream of problems, glitches and other issues. But these tiny problems are the least of your worries; when we go into a prospective client that has outsourced their IT support to another ‘so-called’ expert, we often discover that their backups aren’t set up properly, their anti-virus is overextended, and/or they have illegal software installed. Sure, they might fix these issues when you bring them up, but the simple fact is this: if they were doing their job correctly and had standard procedures and training in place, you wouldn’t have these issues to deal with in the first place. This alone is reason enough to hire us over them: we use standard processes, methodologies and product configurations that ensure all work is done right the first time. Of course every technical support company should have this in place, but most do not. If you don’t believe us, just ask your current technician for their playbook of processes. Most likely, they don’t have one. Here are some examples of what standardization (or lack of) can do for your organization.

Example 1 – with NO standardization:
One of my current clients previously hired an IT company to install 8 new computers. The IT company sent in 2 technicians. After their departure, the client began having computer issues. It was a fiasco and of course the IT vendor blamed the issue on the accounting software. Client just wanted it resolved. Long story short, we were contacted and found that the “techs” had used the same computer name for all 8 of the computers. This is analogous to each computer having the same telephone number so the computers couldn’t talk to each other. If 8 people have the same telephone number and someone calls that number, who should answer? This was the root problem. Standardization eliminates these type of issues for you because it doesn’t matter who is working on your stuff IF they are all working from the same page.

Example 2 – WITH standardization:
We took one of our clients where we installed a completely new environment. They implemented all of our recommendations and as a result we utilized all of our standard configurations, processes and procedures. Based on a 3-year snapshot of the client’s statistics we found:
0 Malware (2 False Positives)
99.63% Server Uptime
98.32% of all tickets were handled remotely
100% of computers up-to-date
92.5% of service tickets were proactively generated by our diagnostic tools that allowed us to head off problems before the client was even aware.
What does this mean? To us it means that we spend all of the time upfront to make sure your systems operate as they should.

3.)	We are always “on” for you 24 hours per day 7 days a week. If you’ve ever had a computer issue at 5:05 in the afternoon or on a weekend when you’re trying to catch up and couldn’t get a hold of your tech until the following day or Monday morning, you’ll REALLY appreciate the fact that we provide 24-7 support. How is that possible? Because of our remote diagnostic tools and the fact that we always keep a technician “on call” – this means you can always get someone to respond after hours or on weekends if needed.

4.)	Our guys are empowered to do anything for you to make your organization operate as smoothly and as error free as possible…no matter the issue.
Have you ever had an issue with a vendor’s service, support, invoice and/or employee? So you call the company to get it resolved only to get the run-around or you have to wait for days because the “person that can help you” is out of town? Well, you won’t experience that from us!. Everyone on our team knows its mission is to help simplify your life, not add to your frustration. We hired an outside consultant, Debra McBride, DM Consulting, LTD, to assess our organization to determine if we are all on the same page when it comes to achieving our mission and that is to “make IT EZ” for you and your organization. Debra not only confirmed this, but offered the following:

“What impresses me most about BSSI is the commitment of the entire team to the mission of making information technology easy. In my interactions with BSSI, every member worked toward this purpose by considering how each situation could best be facilitated for the customer. This focus on customer need is what sets BSSI apart from other computer service providers.”

5.)	We continually challenge ourselves to provide value to your organization at no additional cost. As Bill Gates quoted…” Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don’t think anybody can talk meaningful about one without talking about the other.” We agree and as a result, we challenge ourselves to provide good business value above and beyond our computer services to help your business be successful. Examples include a book I authored, IT101 – A business guide for organizational leaders, sample policies, free advertising, and business mentoring to name a few.

6.)	We reduce user-generated IT problems by over 133.3% and reduce downtime by 40% for our average client moving onto our support plan. You experience fewer recurring problems and less downtime because we (a) resolve the “root” issue vs. treating the symptoms and (b) because of our diagnostic tools that allow us to spot problems before they affect you! We have the experience and knowledge to do this because we invest in our training and certifications to keep our technicians current. We don’t want you to experience the same problem over and over, as well as many other issues in your computer environment.

7.)	We eat our own dog food! We do not learn on your dime. We invest in our education and certifications and we utilize the same products and services we recommend to you.

8.)	We’re fully insured to protect YOU. What would happen if someone injured themselves while working at your site? What if by chance someone was completely negligent in their performance while performing a service at your site and THEY cause a problem with your network that causes you to be down for hours or days or to lose data. Who’s responsible? If your IT service company isn’t insured, the risk and cost could fall on YOUR shoulders! Don’t let an uninsured (or underinsured) company put that risk on you.

9.)	No “Geek Speak” guarantee. Our technicians will never talk down to you, make you feel stupid or confuse you with acronyms and technical terms. They will always communicate with you in plain English, explain your options and tell you why we are making certain recommendations.

10.) We aren’t going to disappear overnight. The recession has caused a lot of businesses to disappear overnight – and a rash of “wanna be” technicians cropping up who were fired or laid off and can’t get a job. They might be well-meaning, but do you really want to hand the “keys to the kingdom” over to a company that might not be there next week? Plus, you can search us online and see from our client comments that we have a long history of delivering honest, ethical services to our clients.
————————————————————————-

Thank you!!

It was presented by Deb, our Marketing/Sales Coordinator.

The Woes of an Administrative Professional!

They don’t say good morning, just line up at my desk;
There is absolutely no time to rest!
Would I do this? Have I ordered that?
Oh my goodness …..if I only had a bat!

You needed this yesterday, you forgot to say?
but you want me to take care of this other thing as you need it today?
Get your sh _ _ organized I would like to say…
But I am just going to hold out for a much higher pay.

I email everyone’s memos and make their coffee;
Heck I even provide the office with a jar of candy toffee
I can somehow answer the phones before they ring
This place expects me to be the most amazing thing!

I am the one who tries always to make things right;
Though no one notices as often as they might.
Lord forbid should I ever get sick
Fix that paper jam themselves, wouldn’t that be slick!

If anyone has a problem, they always come around
I am a sounding board so I have found.
I don’t know how to do this; can you help me?
Sure, I can multitask. Now let me see!

I am the one that tries to find their missing files
Of course, I have to walk on eggshells with a smile.
Oh and who took off with my stapler & other stolen goods?
Oh my gosh …I am so misunderstood!

This is a typical day for me … waiting on my people.
But by the end of the day, I head to the church steeple!
I really don’t mind as I love what I do
Even though I would like to tell everyone to get a clue.

No one really listens as to what I have to say.
Lord what I have to put up with for such low pay!

Happy Administrative Professional Day from all of the folks at BSSI!
